Distribution Video Audio in Burbank, CA, the large-scale distributor of VHS tapes, has shipped its last batch. That’s right, it is officially the end of the magnetic tape era…

I actually can’t believe it took this long for them to stop distributing these things. Remember how long it took to rewind a movie before bringing it back to the video store? I’m pretty sure I still have all of the Disney tapes sitting somewhere. Oh well, you will (or won’t) be missed large, black, video cassettes

Joel Comm, developer of iFart Mobile, recently published statistics of his iPhone app, which was downloaded 13,000 times in a day last week. At $0.99 per download, and with Apple taking 30% of the profit, that equates to approximately $9,200 for Mr. Comm…

A fart application… for your phone… and the developer rakes in almost 10 grand a in day…

Smart or sad? You decide

Blood farming! That’s right, we can make blood… hopefully.

This is an interesting article I read on Popularmechanics.com. Researchers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have created a machine that can supposedly make blood. From what you ask? Well, ever think to yourself what is an umbilical cord good for? Yeah, apparently the stem cells in the umbilical cord can morph into any kind of cell they want. Given the right conditions that cell can be blood. In YOUR body, bone marrow creates blood. So, scientists are using a nano fiber that mimics bone marrow to host the stem cells and create beautiful red blood (red blood cells).

If this becomes a viable technology (ie smaller, portable, more efficient and FDA approved) it would obviously be a tremendous help to front line medical hospitals and civilian ones as well. Especially because there is an increasing shortage of blood for transfusions right now. Until this is finished, get out there and donate!

I just hope they have security around this technology figured out… if the vampires here about this we could be in trouble, or make a lot of money from them… For the full article read at popularmechanics.com.
